Following an in-depth long range strategic planning process by the hospital, a need to expand and enhance its diagnostic imaging and emergency services was identified in order to meet the growing needs of the community. In 2004, there were 2,337 mammography examinations administered at Lewis County General Hospital. The current female population of age 35 and above is approximately 7,500. Recent announcements by the military suggest our county will see a growth in the younger population as a result of 3,000 more troops and their families being stationed with the 10 th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, which is approximately 25 miles from Lowville. A number of military families are housed in our county, and many use our facility's Obstetrics/Gynecology Department, particularly when soldiers are deployed and access to on-base clinic services may be limited. Lewis County Hospital Foundation Capital Campaign Donations Certified Eligible For NYS Tax Credits The Boards of Directors of the Lewis County Empire Zone, and the Lewis County Hospital Foundation, are pleased to announce the certification of the Hospital Foundation's Capital Campaign donations as eligible for New York State Tax Credits. Dianna Pell, Economic Development Director, said, "The local Zone met on Tuesday, October 25, to consider a recommendation of the Zone Capital Credit Committee to request the tax credits from the State on behalf of the Lewis County Hospital Foundation." The Foundation is a 501-c-3, not-for-profit independent corporation, founded in 2001. Mrs. Pell added, "We recognize the importance of the Hospital to our development efforts. We're happy we can utilize the provisions of the Empire Zone legislation to assist in this capital campaign project." In order to see the full article, click HERE. |
